How far should we go?

To what point should we take it?

When is enough, enough?

Any suggestions?

Mike.. by faith.. do you mean as Christians? Or are you referring to specific denominations? I defend what I believe every single day, every single second, every single minute of my life. I am unwilling to back down from what I believe, and what I believe is God's Word. I believe every word, every parable from front to back, by faith. It has cost me one son, and may end up costing me my marriage, and a few of my other boys. But I will continue to stand firm on what the Bible says, what GOD Himself says.
When I say Faith I mean all my faith, whatever I beleive is truth. To me to be christian means in every area, in every breath. And that to me means my denomination. I wouldnt be in my chosen denomination if I didnt believe it to be complete truth...
Mike,
Is there any denomination that is completely true? Your definition of truth sounds pretty relative to how you feel about, and view things... so I must ask, do you believe in absolute truth?

What does it mean to be a Christian, according to scripture?
James,

To be christian is to follow the teachings of Christ, and Jesus Christ is absolute Truth.
Mike,

So being a Catholic, do you believe that the Bible is the the inspired word of God? (2 Peter 1:20-21)
If so than why do you believe in doctrines that are contray to scripture? such as....

Mary's Davinity
Purgatory
Worship of the saits

to name a few...

"By asking Mary to pray for us, we acknowledge ourselves to be poor sinners and we address ourselves to the 'Mother of Mercy,' the All-Holy One. We give ourselves over to her now, in the Today of our lives," (Catechism of the Catholic Church, par. 2677).
James,

Yes, James it is the insipred word, Please show me were the Bible says its the ONLY Inspired Word of God?

Mary's( The Blessed Mother) Divintiy is Truth
Purgatory is Truth
And we dont worship the saints, we pray with them and ask them to pray for us...

Your discernment of the scriptures that you and others use to defend your stance are flawed.
Im sorry but that my friend is truth...

Peace and Love on your quest for truth..
"For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the DEFENSE AND CONFIRMATION of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me." (Phil. 1:7)

"We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." (2 Cor. 10:5-6)

Defending the gospel and "destroying"/taking captive of every opposing thought n speculation that is raised up against the truth, is never really enough. One is expected to do this untill his death, when called to do this. And it should be done with gentleness and reverence:

"....but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence" (1 Pet. 3:15)
So you feel Mikey that if someone is practicing what you beleive to be the wrong doctrine you should continue to try to correct them, or should we just be content that they are christians and leave it alone. Is it worth dividing the body over doctrine?
It is NOT about dividing the body, for the body itself doesnt need the kind of witnessing im talking about. An example: The bible talks about the existence of different gospels; counterfeit gospels. One of those is that baptism is a requirement for salvation(not that I want to start THAT discussion here now, but maybe it's interesting for a new thread) That is a different gospel message, and thus a different saviour.

Or with the LDS church, aren't they too christians? No, because of many things. They too believe baptism is a requirement for salvation. And besides they believe that God the Father was once like us n was Himself created a long time ago. Consequently denying the deity of Christ!

Same thing with Jehovah's Witnesses, who have their own translation of the bible. And their translators have purposely edit the text in many places to make it fit in their doctrines. Of which one is that Jesus is created, n thus.. they too are denying the deity of Christ.

We are to witness to them, because they are not saved. They have a different gospel n a different jesus. So it's not dividing the body of Christ, because it's witnessing to those who are NOT part of it. We can tell by using the bible as our one tool to discern with, together with the Holy Spirit.
What about protestants and catholics, they are both christians, both sides can defend there faith, each side beleives there discernment is correct. That to me is a major division within the same Body.
I realize there are docrtines that are completely false, but there are many with some truth, some have little truth, according to my discerment and some have alot of truth, and to me one has complete truth. But that isnt my point, do we go back and forth on the truths themselves or do we just accept eachother were they are at and dont even bother trying to show eachother, expecially if one side or both sides have there minds made up.
Mike.. I know this may be off the subject here.. and may even be seen as a little prejudiced considering we are good friends and have been for some time, but I for one REALLY appreciate all you have to say.. no matter what your "denomination". I never knew half of the stuff about the Catholic doctrine, until YOU have posted it here. When I was growing up, we were taught NOT to question the doctrine or what we were taught, because we were not the ones who had gone to seminary. So to learn all of this about the church I grew up in is VERY interesting to me. Keep up the posting, keep up the teaching ( no matter what ANYONE else says), keep believing...
Yep Cami,

Huge mistake by the catholics, they had good intentions but it backfired. I search truth, my Life has been a quest for truth for almost 6yrs now. As you know I was a little of everything and I am well versed in the different beliefs, expecially within the christian family. I preached much of what everyone preaches on here. I was able to throw verses left and right to defend my stance. I had it figured out. So you can amagine how hard it was for me to actually return to my childhood faith of catholicism. I rejected every part. I hated the Pope. I bashed the blessed Mother. But one thing Im sure of is that I was so wrong for doing this. I realized after much pain that I was in fact leaning on my own understanding. I was searching truth with bias veiw. I really never was willing to go in complete faith and be willing to fall if I was wrong. But when that day finally came, I was like a new person again. I saw deeper then ever. I was emmersed in truth. I was no longer looking for why I should be a catholic but looking for why God wanted me to practice catholiism. I have seen more things then I could ever talk about, I have been brought so far into The heart of my saviour then I could ever amagine.

Anyone who knows me knows I love God with everything I have and all I desire is to live in the complete Divine Will... The problem I have with trying to teach catholism is that most catholics dont even know the true teachings and sadly enough alot of priests fall short as well. Its only because Gods grace that I have been able to see past all the false interpertations of these teachings. Whether from within the church or from afar. I truelly beleive I am closer then ever and the reason being Is that I have so many tools at my disposal from the deeper understanding of the saints and sacraments, ect, the church teaches...

With Love, thank you for your kind words...
