There is a certain Pastor and Musician i really like 4 his singing in South Africa who just said on national TV that,God has given us the power to answer our own prayers and that He Himself doesn't answer them. The guy said it himself that what he said was controversial......what do you say to that Ladies and Gentlemen.......Blasphemy or we don't understand him????

God is sovereign even over our free will and our choices, however, I see it this way: God has something that He wants to get done or see accomplished, so He begins to move upon a person in such a way as to get that person to open his or her heart and to cooperate with His(God's will)., and then the person has this assurance that "If we shall ask anything according to His will, then we know that God heareth us." My paraphrase.

I get you Brother and thanks for the response!...but isn't what you just paraphrased contradictory to what he said? He says that God doesn't answer prayer but gave US the power to answer OUR OWN prayers...could he mean that our faith is the tool that facilitates answering of prayer or we are equipped with something else other than faith? The guy said this was controversial and didn't get into detail...I don't know what to think now.let me know if you have any revelation whatsoever thnx!!

how can we answer our own prayers ? What would be the point in our prayer time with the Lord ? If we already knew what we needed to be done, we wouldn't be down on our knees. He may move us to do something, but I believe that God does answers prayers. Maybe if I heard what this Pastor was saying, I could collaborate with you some more.

but the fact is he answers prayers whether it is all or one prayer. no i on the other hand that life cannot really be hrad, if you live a life of selfishness only then can life be hard, because there are always others who suffer more and being a christian is to get as close as possible to the image of christ, who never thought about himself, but about the father and about others.

well, I believe that God uses us as humans as instruments to answer prayers, and how does this guy explain the following, i sometimes, if not most of the time, ask god to bless me with His presence in such a way that I know He is there, in such a way which i have no control over, and every time HE has answered my prayer, because i sing songs and shiver and sweat like never before sometimes i cant stop myself from screaming out the name of Christ and just praising Him. i dont have control over this,so how can i answer that prayer of mine myself?

The concept of free will is such a subtle and fascinating one and one of my personal favourites. I tend to agree with the idea that we can answer our own prayers, through God. The Holy Spirit is more than just a sort of "embassy" inside you. It BECOMES you, or rather you become IT, by recognizing and accepting it. The more you live by It, the more you become It. Prayer relies on this Spirit to work, and when that prayer is coming from a part of you filled with Spirit, it is that much more potent, that much more Angelic as opposed to Human. My point is that through prayer you communicate with God inside you, the part of you that IS God, and in that respect one could say that it is you that answers your own prayers, because the Holy Spirit brings God into YOU. Its a matter of perspective I suppose, and based on the idea that "you" are not only an ego, but also a vessel of God. God is a funny old chap. Its another reason I love Him. :)
