My best friend since 4th grade just told me that she lost her virginity this weekend... She's sneaking around and going behind her parents back...and she doesn't see anything wrong with it.
What can I do? Besides the obvious of telling her 'rents, that is.
Prayer should always be apart of the answer. Though, is this friend a Christian? If so, confront her with The Word. If she does not respond to that, then you should let her parents know.
Parents may have little or no effect at all, especially on someone who has no problem and no remorse in sneaking around. Mind you, I'm not judgemental (Except in most cases) but if the Word does not inspire her to rethink her actions, it would be more appropriate to notify a proffesional such as a school counseler. Things like these usually go alot deeper that cause the impulse at a young age, not counting teenage hormones. Keep the parents out of the loop until you get the whole story, & find out what's going on in her life. BF? bored in school? trauma? abusive parents? Once the counseler has put some word in, let him/her talk to her parents and there will be better chances of getting through to her.
I agree with Michael J--Prayer should always be the first step. Listen also to the leading of the Holy Spirit for He may reveal to you an opportunity to speak life into her situation. As far as telling her parents, I think the only thing that will do is violate your friends trust with you and end your relationship.
I do not think there is a set answer for situations like these, for everyone is individual and must be dealt with as such. Your friend may respond well with confrontation, or something else. She is your friend so you should know the best way to communicate with her and hold her accountable. Perhaps telling her parents may be the best way even if it does cost your friendship in the end.
Well if she's a christain then she needs to know what the Bible says but first of all don't go to her parents yet because she might rebel even harder. She has to know that each time she's with a man they become one flesh, there's alot of talk about STDs but people dont know that much more goes on than that, its a union that makes you one in body, soul and spirit! There is also the problem of promisciuty which is never good for a young girl. She may think she's having fun and exploring now but she will regret her actions if she's not careful. just try and talk to her as a friend first.
