I go to Church becos of the significance behind it, Abraham went to church (Bethel) in the old testament and its been an institution ever since. That's where he met with God. We now in the new bring his presence with us in the building to make Church. In the house God (father's house) are many mansions (dwelling places)!
I'd like in on this how about the idea that denominations are all based on prejudice pretty much everyone has their own view of the Chritian faith and to sway someone to your view is something only Jesus himself should be doing All we're here for is to spread the Word so that others know of it We are to make disciples of Christ not the RC or the Church Revived
All very good responses

Hey every one had big serious responses, i HAD to do it!! lol. but really? not only is it a good place to give me the bible in "men's english" but also gives me plenty to study during the week & stuff to think about in between times, as well as the pastor will challenge you in every way shape and form, to get you to walk closer with God... and the fellowship food... is GREAT

I go to Church to meet my saviour , true lover and to glorify Him.

If you are born in a Christian family going to church is a legal , if you born -again in Christ going to church is Grace.

The Church is called "God's embassy".

I go mainly to understand the Word of God better from people with more wisdom than I. I can congregate with fellow Christians outside of the temple. As you said, we are the church so it doesn't really matter where we learn. For example, if I knew a old hermit who could impart more wisdom to me than the pastors at the temple, I would go to him instead. Then, wouldn't the old hermit's house become my temple? Who says you have to go to some big building with a bunch of people to be obediant? You should go to where God guides you to go. Jesus taught anywhere there was eyes to see and ears to hear. He didn't wait until He was at the temple because He wanted to be obediant to the Father. He was being obediant and perfect in every way. You can glorify the Lord anywhere, any time of the day. He knows your thoughts and He knows your heart.

Jesus taught in the streets to reach the gentiles because they were not allowed in the temples. He taught in the temples to reach the jews, mostly the scribes and pharises because that is were they were. He didnt teach in the christian church because there was none yet. The birth of Her had not yet come. He was plowing the feild preparing it for Her seed.

If you want a more accurate account of the early church you will need to expand your horizen and read the early church fathers writings...Even then you wont get an accurate account of what She is to be today because She is a living Temple and She is growing and changing everyday. You need to put more trust in Her knowing God would never forsake Her.

As for your hermit example, thats not very smart. The problem is you are trusting that this man has the correct interpertation of the scriptures. The only way to measure his understanding is to lean on your own understanding. And that my friend is very dangerous. Its best to lean on mother church, the one who Christ Himself plowed and seeded. The one who has been there since the apostles and has with stood the test of time. The one who has been battered and scared but has never been forsaken....

I see where you're coming from but how does my absence from the the temple affect my ability to worship, praise, and love God? God is everywhere is He not or am I mistaken? Another question I pose to you is, what if the pastors in the temples are false prophets? What if their translations of God's word are completely inaccurate or bent to serve their own ends? This is entirely possible knowing that we are all sinners and will be until the day we die. Their isn't a priest, pastor, or reverend out there that isn't a sinner and can't make mistakes. So isn't it better that I trust in God and the common sense He gave to me to decide the best place to worship? I do go to church by the way because I found one where I believe they are wise and that God has guided me to go there. I enjoy spending time with my fellow Christians. It's nice to have someone to relate to but I don't think worshipping in a temple shows obediance, I think worshipping, period, shows obediance.

Your absence doesnt effect your abilty to worship. It effects your abilty to receive the Body and Blood, the actual Body and Blood, the Eucharist. You miss out from the celebration of the sacrafice. In that way you cut yourself short of the complete worship God intended His children to partake in.

As for false prophets you are right there are many in all branches of christianity. That is all the more reason we should rely on the Church for accountablity. The only branch out there that has the magestrium is the catholic church. As catholics we believe that the Holy Spirit has protected the magestrium from error. The same magestrium that has been there for over 2000yrs. No other branch can make that claim. And yes there have been many false prohets who were priests, but they dont have any authority when it comes to doctrine and interpertation of scripture. Anything taught that goes against the magestrium is rebuked by the church and the priest must adhere to the correction or risk excomminucation.

Common sense is a great tool given to us by God, but the problem comes when we dont know our Fathers voice. We have three voices; ours, satans, and Gods, and this is very dangerous because the worst voice of the three is ours and to often then not we think our voice is the one with common sense and we will find that our sense isnt always the best sense. That is why we are cautioned to not lean on our own understanding. Put your trust in the church Christ instituded and the one who has with stood the test of time.

That is my opinion and the opinion of about one billion other catholics today.
