Does God answer prayer or did he give us the power to answer our own prayers?

The concept of free will is such a subtle and fascinating one and one of my personal favourites. I tend to agree with the idea that we can answer our own prayers, through God. The Holy Spirit is more…

DO YOU BELIEVE CHRISTIANS SHOULD ALWAYS TURN THE OTHER CHEEK?

I think Christians should always turn the other cheek, simply and irrefutably because Jesus did. I think the problem comes in what exactly it MEANS to turn the other cheek. I don't think it means one…

Giving to Receive???

Mark, I know exactly the kind of programme you are talking about! I have even seen one particular TV pastor go as far as promising expensive cars and houses to the people that donated "big". Never mi…

The idea of "pagans" is a wholly human idea cooked up by catholics and adopted by other christians to identify someone who doesn't follow Christ as Saviour and God as God. It should have no relevence at all to a true Christian other than that. Even…

I totally agree with you. Jesus was the image of a perfect human being under God, but not God. I do believe we all have the Christ potential in us. We can become one with God and take on our true aspect as "Children of God". So many people believe t…

About Me:
I'm an enternally curious spirit and I like to think I'm open-minded, though I suppose thats all relative? Maybe I should say instead that I have a very firm moral code which I live by, though my code is broad. I can't help but see God in all things, even the so-called "bad" parts of society. I'm a christian though I don't fit into any specific church doctrine, which is difficult and at the same time liberating. I only follow the bible strictly as far as the words of Jesus, and the rest of it I try to understand through those words, if that makes sense.
age
28
hobbies:
I'm not sure I have any actual hobbies! I do tend to read a lot about all sorts of different religious perspectives, which can be both entertaining and enlightening (and sometimes batshit crazy hehe) I'm particularly interested in the biblical prophecies and I'm CONSTANTLY amazed by seeing it in front of my eyes. Hmmm....do those count as hobbies? What else...? I used to abuse my body badly with alcohol and drugs but now I love being fit and I exercise regulary. It feels good to take care of my body, better than the drugs ever did.
favorite music:
varied! Currently I'm liking the lyrics of relatively unknown "VNV Nation" which is like electonic/ebm but with a genuine message (as opposed to the usual "darkwave" offerings which tend to feature some git who thinks he's a vampire...)
favorite movies & tv shows:
movie - no favourite really...but "Instinct" with Anthony Hopkins rates pretty high. TV show - probaby "Carnivale" tho it was never finished. Also "Hustle" because its just cool:)
favorite books & bible verses:
I like sci-fi mostly. Fav authors are Iain Banks, Peter Hamilton, Alistair Reynolds, Isaac Asimov and Ursula Le Guin. Bible verse...wow...difficult. 1 John 5:14-15 comes to mind. Anything spoken by Jesus.
Who would you like to meet ?
Weeeell....I guess I'm quite unoriginal in this department. First and foremost I would like to meet JC, and as luck would have it he is the one on this list I'm sure I WILL meet! Also I would like to meet John the disciple and Paul the apostle but mostly John. Also Mary Magdalene because I think she was so much more than how she is portrayed. I would like to meet my grandfather as the adult I am and not the child I was. Oh and L. Ron Hubbard because I'd love to go Old Testament on his ass. Sorry but its true!
