Settling into my Christianity when first saved,
was difficult for me;as it was for many of us.
Over the years,I realized why?
I had spent those many years within a society attempting to please
others, and myself.I never focused nor watched as my God worked
in the circumstances of my life.
I didn't picture selfishness as relative to sin, when it is synonymous
in living life!
My concept of I,Me;and Mine:,were all the same.Yet;until I realized
the selfish desires of my heart,I became adept at crea…

I woke up this morning with those same thoughts. I was thinking about how easy it is to get caught up in the busyness of life, and miss out on that time with the Lord. And life in our house is pretty busy these days. But it is a blessing to have family here who love the Lord. Still, I do cherish the quiet times.
And know something else?
I have 2 other friends who have talked about being in deserts recently. One is literally in a desert at the moment, in Saudi Arabia. His home is in India, as is his wife and 2 kids, whom he hasn't seen in 18 months. He's gone away to work to get them out of financial trouble. Anyhow, his time in the desert has brought him closer to the Lord, and into his Word. I met him via another ning network, and have been sharing with him in the Word.
And my other friend is a pastor in the Philippines. And he testifies of having a desert experience, when he was away from his family for some time.
Hmmmmm... I find it interesting that the Lord is bringing like-minded people across my path.
I was reading your post about Hermitage.
I find that one is often condemned by other Christians for wanting to be alone. They say we need to have Christian fellowship to grow.
But as I see it, too much Christian fellowship can be a trap. We can become more dependent on Christians than we do on hearing God for ourselves. It can rob us of our time alone with God.
And, if God calls one to be a writer or an artist, one needs more quiet time to be still and reflect.
Should we loners stick together!! :-)
Anyhow, I can identify with those wilderness times, and time apart from church. Paul, the apostle, had 14 years on his own, hearing from God. (See Galatians 2.)
Know that she was approximately 2 to 3yrs old at the time my friend. She is now 28yrs old and a college Art student getting on with life. She cringes whenever I write of her
experience with that morning.Mary, you haven't been the only person who has responded in that manner.Something within us wants to always protect the little children,in our lives. Thanks for your concern She was a valid participant in one of her spiritual stories we have with our children. Thank you for your comment. Never fear, she is well and thriving. In His love, lampwickke xxx
