If the Lord will? A qualifying statement of unbelief?

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that." - James 4:14-15.  This is an example of hope, not faith.

Does this passage give us a pattern to follow with each and every prayer request?  Can adding it to our prayer cause our prayer to  become be a prayer of unbelief?

I…

Poem: Stirred, But Not Shaken

The World is not enough for me, seeing that

my enrollment is inscribed on Heaven’s scroll;

my assignments are ongoing and I know that…

I’m secure with regard to the future of my soul.

I may not enjoy the exploits of James Bond,

but my faith’s exhilaration does not compare

in the traditional sense of the World’s view,

since the Presence of Jehovah is everywhere.

Empowered by His Spirit to take divine action,

defeat of evil principalities that…

One Reason

You give God honor when you choose to forgive others that hurt you. You give Him honor when you choose to respond to situations not by reacting with revenge or with your fleshly desires but with your highest values. You give Him honor when you reflect Jesus’ love in your life; not just to people who love you back but to people who hate you. That’s our job and when we spend an eternity with Jesus, we are going to be spending an eternity giving honor to Him and we…

The Two Witnesses

Who are the two witnesses?

A Variety of the two witnesses have cropped up.  The identity of these two witnesses have been bantered around and a few have cropped up.

God has not chosen…

Ouch!

Well....Went out for my morning walk, and ended up taking a trip, I wasn't expecting, and....Down I went, hitting my knee on the sidewalk hard enough to break it, but the Lord was with me....It's scraped and badly bruise.

Not only that, I hit the side of my head against the metal pole of a stop sign, and, ouch! My ear!! 2 tiny little split's on it that made it bleed like a stuck pig......It's been a little over an hour since that happened, and now....

My knee hurts, and…

I’m Lovin’ This Life !!!

Too often we take our faith seriously in the wrong ways. When we present only the somber, quiet side of faith, without expressing the joy, the result is not always so attractive. Christians have gained the reputation of not being too much fun, and nothing should be further from the truth. Being a Christian is the most joy-filled and lively experience we can have. Others need to see that. Live the happiness, laughter, and singing of being a Christian, so the whole…

Satan Continually Trains His Demons

By Greg Miller © 2014

Satan strictly enforced his training policy for his demons.

“All my helpers must remain thoroughly trained at all times,” Satan told Mrs. Satan. “Every time I send a demon out on assignment, his or her job will also double as a training session.”

“What if they do their job but fail the training part of the assignment?” asked Mrs. Satan.

“No big deal,”…

WAITING

Looking back as a born-again believer and very new to Church culture, I can recall how excited I was to be a part of the body of Christ and sometimes reminisce on how God had used me powerfully in so many ways for his kingdom and glory.

There is nothing in the world quite like the joy one experiences when someone you are ministering to is granted revelation and understanding of his word found in the Gospels which brings…

Poem: Quiet Spaces

In these quiet spaces,

I become temporarily deaf

to the meaningless noises

that seek to define me.

In these quiet spaces,

my soul is nourished;

surrounded by silence,

my spirit soars upward.

In these quiet spaces,

my focus turns inward,

knowing that His Presence

is co-mingled with mine.

In these quiet spaces,

the renewing of my mind

occurs as my life, is…

humbled before Him.

In these quiet spaces,…

Church Officials Meet to Discuss

Requirements for Salvation

By Greg Miller © 2014

A group of church leaders gathered for a summit to discuss the requirements they felt were necessary to spend eternity with God.

“I believe we should practice the Gold Rule!” exclaimed Greta, who taught the Great Adult Sunday School Class.” She quoted Matthew 7:12, where Jesus said, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye…

The Perfect Storm

"This, Christian, is what you must do. Sometimes, like Paul, you can see neither sun nor stars, and no small tempest lies on you. Reason cannot help you. Past experiences give you no light. Only a single course is left. You must stay upon the Lord; and come what may -- winds, waves, cross seas, thunder, lightening, frowning rocks, roaring breakers -- no matter what, you must lash yourself to the helm and hold fast to your confidence in God's faithfulness and his…
