John 7:24
Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.
How many of us have seen someone and judged them according to their appearance. If we were to take a poll on the ones of us who have the numbers would be staggering.
The scripture tells us not to judge on appearance because looks can be very deceiving. Many of us have looked at people and saw how they were dressed, their mannerism, and how they spoke and assumed they must be a man or woman of God.
Jesus doesn't look at the outer appearance of man but he looks at the heart. The heart can be very deceitful. The scriptures says out of the heart flow the issues of life.
The outward appearance of a person can look meek and humble but in the heart lies the true motives of a person.
God is the only one who can see the heart of a person. We must rely on what the scripture tells us. We must look at the fruit of that person.
A good tree bears good fruit. It is healthy and well nourished from its deep strong roots. The fruit it's bears will be good fruit. Many will be able to eat and enjoy from this tree.
A bad tree can't produce good fruit. By looking at it the very appearance of a bad tree can be deceiving. For a while it can look healthy and nourished even through the roots are infected, damaged, or destroyed. Eventually you will see the damaged tree and rotten fruit if any is produced at all.
What is good fruit? In Galatians 5:22 it states but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. When you see this fruit coming from someones life you can rest assured this person is a Godly person or the example the scripture uses a good tree.
What is bad fruit? It is just the opposite of good fruit. When you see this fruit coming from someones life you can rest assured this person is not a Godly person or the example the scripture uses a bad tree.
The scripture tells us to make righteous judgments. I know you have heard this judge not less you be judged. This scripture doesn't tell us to not to judge but tells us to make sure it is righteous judgements and not hyopcrisy judgements.
