1 Peter 3:8
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.
Easier said then done. At times we can find these words hard to obey. We are different people with different dreams, goals, and ideas. We were raised differently. We don't like the same food, clothes,or music.
This is challenging to say the least but if we as people would celebrate our differences instead of using them to act superior or above the other we could learn a lot from each other. God made us all. We were all made from the dust of the ground.
You really can't get any lower than that. We can't address harmony until we address humble. We can't seem to destroy the need for power, independence, and prestige. The very things that caused Adam and Eve to fall in the garden of Eden. Our flesh wants to be exalted, that is why we must not walk in the flesh but in the spirit.
After many a year, it is still causing men and women everywhere to stumble and fall. The thought of living in harmony is still a distant dream.
We were charged by the Apostle Peter to live in harmony and he instructed us on how to accomplish the task.
Sympathetic- whatever effects you should effect me good or bad.
Love as brothers- we should love each other the way we would love our own family members.
Compassionate- mercy. We should have mercy on others. We might need that same mercy extended to us.
Humble- lowly. Don't esteem yourself higher than you ought to. God raises the humble and resist the proud.
These are some of the ingredients we need to live in harmony with each other. When we take these ingredients and mix them with love and apply them to our lives our differences will no longer separate us and living in harmony will no longer be a distant dream but the current reality.
