Psalm 42:1
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for you, O God.
I like the analogy that the writer uses as the deer pants for the water brook this is how his soul pants for God.
A deer habitation is usually dry mountainous terrain or forest. Being that it's a dry area their search for water is evident. They pant for the water brook to satisfy their thirst.
This is the way our soul should search after God. Pant is to run to or to long eagerly. Luke 4:10 Jesus answered and said to her. If you know the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, give me a drink you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.
Luke 4:14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.
The water the Lord is speaking of is Holy Spirit. Are you thirsty today? Haven't you been in that dry place long enough without water to quench your thirst? Run to Jesus today.
Aren't you tired of trying to climb those mountains alone? Are you thirsty? Run to Jesus today.
The woman at the well asked Jesus for the water so she wouldn't have to come to the well to draw again. She wanted her thirst to be quench physcially.
Jesus wants to do more than just quench your thirst for the moment. He wants to give you the living water that will become a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. You want just have water for yourself but he wants to give you enough for others to drink from.
Are you thirsty today? Aren't you tired? You have tried everything to quench your thirst and you are still not satisfied. All the things you have tried have be external and temporal.
Are you thirsty today? Ask him to give you a drink of that everlasting water. Are you thirsty today? Drink of him. Drink of his word. Drink of his truth.
Drink. Drink. Drink.
Come on let him mess you. Are you thirsty? Take a drink.
